forever young
Today is my mum's birthday! She is an incredible lady. I don't know how she does it all. And she washed the dog today without me noticing until the thing ran into the room soaking wet! She never takes a break. So, Wednesday while she's at work I'm going to try and clean the entire house (okay, probably not the entire house because I hate cleaning more than I hate a lot of things and our house is ginormous). But I will make a valient effort, because she deserves it.
She's turning 50 and doesn't look it the slightest, and we kept joking that 50 isn't even that old because one of our presidental candidates is almost 72. So she's got a whole lot of life left for her.
We ate at this restaurant at the Salem airport and it was kind of cool because there were glass walls so you could watch the little planes fly in. Food was good. Mom got free chocolate cake that disappeared in seconds. Then we saw Iron Man and sadly I fell asleep because I got no sleep last night (because I was camping and laying on sticks and talking to Angela who slept even less and got then woken up at 6:45 by a chainsaw). But luckily I woke up before he said, "The truth is... I am Iron Man." Because I love that part. It's almost a Micheal Scott moment, like he just can't hold it in and wants to be acknowledged. Great movie, I totally wouldn't have fallen asleep had I not seen it before and been running on 2.75 hours of sleep.
Went to Caleb's soccer game again and it's one of the most stressful things. The coach was yelling like crazy. The ref was getting defensive. Caleb was in the goal and almost got kicked in the face when he was holding on to the ball. It was better than hockey... Caleb is almost big enough to give me a piggy back ride which is an exciting development.

you're probably in the top three best looking on the street (depending on the street)
Job searching still. I've stopped expecting anything to happen it's like I'm filling out applications and throwing them off a cliff. Which would be a much cooler image.
So yesterday I went back to m'alma mater dear old South Salem High School, which is older than my parents. First of all, they changed the floors so they clash with the walls. Lovely. Second of all, I got attacked by a Sophmore who I obviously made some sort of impression on last year. And another who somehow convinced me to go to Jamba Juice with her. Ha. But it was good...I mean, it's always nice to feel like a celebrity whether it's deserved or not.
Important of all, I talked to Mrs. Boderman. Possibly the most amazing human on this planet. She teaches band to a bunch of highschoolers with varying degrees of caring. She takes the band everywhere from Hawaii to Australia and they're going to China this year. Sidenote on that: She was like, "yeah, we were thinking about taking you to China because Shira had to drop out, but we got Elizabeth to go." Daaaang. Granted it's good Elizabeth got to go, but I would have loved to go and it sounds like Shira had already paid a big deposit and it would have been for free or cheap. Oh well. Back to Boder. She genuinely cares about everyone and was always willing to talk about anything (yesterday we talked for about 2.5 hours). She's got great advice about everything. Oh and she's won the state championship something like 15 times (and currently 6 in a row).
I don't often get nostalgic but I am going through old emails and I want to be in love again...Dunno why thought because I always screw it up. But there's something so magical about the begining. When it's new and exciting and you use the term "we" and you call each other all sorts of affectionate things and every touch is magical. And the deep, genuine, being absolutely crazy about each other. And I can never see that for all it's goodness until it's over, dangit. K, sorry, the girliness will stop now.
Also visited Mr. Woodsy (oh, he wants to be called Rob now). And he met me with a large hug, which is funny because he's such a flamboyant germ-phobe. We discussed everything from movies to Utah landscape to of course Shakespeare. He's a great guy. Another example of people who like me excessively for no reason. He always brings up the ridiculous version of Romeo and Juliet Maire and I did with reverse roles (Romecia and Julio).

I don't know why, but it really helps to just talk about things aloud sometimes. Even things I had only ever told one person and had decided to never talk about again. Because when you have people you can trust you who love you you should really take advantage of that.
So...yeah.

The (Un)Keys to My Heart
Totally copying Jordan on this one... With my not as witty commentary on a ridiculous blogthing.
The Keys to My Heart (according to how I feel about animals)
and my rebuttle
You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.
--Alright, so this one is true, totally attracted to the wild stallion type, but the rest aren't...
In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you're told that you're loved.
--I actually think once you're in a relationship you should be able to know the other person loves you without being told upfront all the time.
You'd like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.
--Um, can't argue with that one.
You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic.
--False. I have a huge crush on anyone in the Slytherin house. Dead serious.
Your ideal relationship is traditional. Without saying anything, both of you communicate with your hearts.
--This actually leads to a lot of miscommunication.
Your risk of cheating is 100%. You are not suited for a monogamous relationship.
--I actually said, "What!?" alloud when I read that. I think that is a very judgemental assumption. I mean 100% is kind of harsh and very specific, there is no leeway there. Not even a half percent chance that I might be faithful. Just because I like sheep!?!
You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.
Well, yes.
In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You'll do anything for love, but you won't fall for it easily.
Well that is certainly a complicated process. But after mocking it I am starting to buy into that this one is true. Of course it makes no sense. But it might be true.
So I guess it batted about a 40% average, which is better than my chances at being faithful.
And a plug for the greatest ice cream ever (well, one of them):
Pomegrante Chip. It is pomegrante ice cream with dark chocolate chips in it. SO GOOD. Not a lot of people agree with me, but everyone shoul. I think it's by Hagaen DaĊ¸ozz™ or however they spell it.
Yesterday I started to watch a show on the Hitler (as Mr. Chamberlein called it) Channel called High Hitler and it was about his drug dependency. Found that amusing.

My Dog is an Astronaut, Though.
Watched Best in Show yesterday and laughed at the ridiculousness of those crazy owners. Then woke up today and realized I could see myself becoming one of those people some day...Not a lesbian or a Canadian ventriloquist but the obsessed with a dog part. I can see it now...Me, graduated and unmarried, living in a one-room apartment with some furry beast and a typewriter (because computers will be obsolete then). And I will line the walls with canvas and paint on them. Having a dog is much more effective than a cat because they can keep you warm and protect you from burglers. But the main reason I can see this is that I've actually considered putting on matching bandannas and taking pictures with my dog. And when I walk into the room and she's there I think, "Man, she's beautiful."
But she is.
Sometimes while IMing I genuinely laugh out loud, but I know if I type lol it won't have the proper meaning because I've been told lol far too many times when I knew for a fact that person was not loling...But maybe I am just more hilarious than I give myself credit for and they were loling.
Also watched Batman Returns. I've been trying to catch up on movies like that. Catwoman is kind of a freaky kitten. But I thought it was great and wonderfully Tim Burton.
I need a joearerb.

you kiss like a rock
K, internet world, I've got big news. We're talking BIG news.
Will Arnett is going to be --shoot, I left a quesadilla on the stove--
K, So apparently he's going to be on Sesame Street as Max the Magician which would make my life a little better, but I can't find internet proof to back up the magazine my mom showed me while we were at our eye appointment. So basically it's either amazing or a figament of the drug laced eye drops they gave us.
Which, by the way, it's amazing that I'm at a computer because I can't focus so well on anything because I took my contacts out and my pupils are 50% larger than normal. So my eyes/brain will probably explode when I finish this. But things don't really explode that often [said with disappointment]. I feel like one of those crazy cross-eyed Siamese cats.
I am going to give some kudos to tredmill owning:
You can wear whatever you want, because you are running in the comfort of your own home. In gyms there is the pressure of needing to wear matching tracksuits and having your hair pulled back all nice and sporty-looking. But when running in the comfort of my own home I can bust out the 70s-esce shorts I got for $1 at the kitten thrift store. Or the monkey boxers I got for xmas. With a tanktop that doesn't match in the slightest. It is very liberating.
Also, you can watch/listen to whatever you want. I have a current running mix that includes a mash-up of Bloc Party and Madonna (Groovecopter) Paper Planes by MIA Upside Down by A-Teens because these are most excellent for run-dancing. And some others that I like to sing along to (like StD, Johnny Cash, Sufjan, TGUK). I have messed up ears that iPod headphones will not stay in, so it's nice to be able to blast music from a not-so-portable appliance. I also watch any of the following: m*a*s*h, Arrested Developement, Seinfeld. Because there is nothing better than trying to laugh and run at the same time.
Another added benefit is that it's free (for me, of course my dad paid however much for it initially) unlike the gym. But also saves you the awkwardness of running past the neighbors and getting chased by dogs.
Now I just need 5 more tredmills so I can be like OK Go.

You Are The Moon.
I have a lot of dreams where I get what I want. For example, I have dreams that attractive men like Steve Carell want to date me. When sleeping over at Megan's I dreamed I woke up and there were four extra mattresses in her dorm. I dreamed someone brought me toffifay. I dreamed that I found a pot of gold on my doorstep. Which sounds quite splendid but it really makes waking up depressing.
Tonight for family night we went shopping at "Joe's" (no longer G.I.) because they're trying to clear everything out. I didn't find anything but everyone else did. So is life. Also discovered my little brother (9) has the same size shoes as me...So basically I could share any of my clothes with him...Because I've been stealing his t-shirts since he was 6 or 7. Someday he will be taller than me, and I will officially be the smallest again (heck, the dog is almost bigger than me) but for now I can still tackle him.
Watched Mission: Impossible. The first 1/4 or so while playing scrabble which wasn't wise. But T. Cruise makes the greatest faces, heh. He seemed so sincere and young. Not to mention a killer secret agent...And kind of hot.
Want to take up guitar again (tried over xmas break).

Something is wrong with my body because I feel like an emotional slug 21/7 (there are about 3 hrs of normalcy per 24). It's like baby mono all over again. Ick. Mum was all, "take these vitamins, they'll make you pee in neon colors" [Not quite her exact words].
Still missing the old life but I got Burt's Bees with Pomegrante and Crispix for free today and I remembered why I like living at home.
Good night, Moon.
Cascada needs some new dance moves
I just found out The Get Up Kids are on their last tour and I'm legitimately sad. I discovered TGUK in middle school and they've gotten me through all sorts of times. Never saw them in concert...And now I never will. They're super brilliant and more than a touch emo. But they've always been there for me. I may have to shed a single tear, but I will be strong. They're lyrics are too brilliant for words though (pun unintended).

watch this one if you want to get dizzy:

Watched a lame mockumentary last night Chalk. It was about four teachers and I thought it might be lame but I liked the idea. There were funny parts for sure. But it was fairly boring and used the same camera angles over and over and way too many extreme close-ups.
An older man told me I had panache today, that was nice.
I have the craziest dreams. And they usually only have four different colors in them.

When I wrap my arms around you, every mistake we made crumbles.
Hugs are quite difficult things sometimes. It seems like there are often too many arms for a smooth hug-transaction to occur. Futher complication comes when you don't know where to aim with your arms. Some people like the near-strangling 'round the neck hugs. Others with the more centered around the waist hugs. Sometimes both people aim for the same spot and the arms block each other. You have to manuever so one person arms are above the others.
I am often a victim of the awkward-side-hug-that-causes-loss-of-balance hug. Maybe I just have no sense of balance, but often, especially when wearing heels, I end up in a hug that literally knocks me off my feet. Quite wonderful in the enthusiasm level, but leaves me feeling a little disoriented.
I think its easiest if someone just goes for it and grabs the other person and pins their arms to their side. Problem solved.
One of the most awkward is the hug where the other person smooshes their face against yours. This seems to be common among the older generation.
My personal favorite...Which I can only sometimes get away with is the run-and-jump-into-the-other-person's-arms-hug. This often ends badly if the other person was not prepared or has a weak back. Can easily lead to landing on the floor.
Some people give really great hugs though, and I give major props to those people.
